This policy explains what personal data [legal name] ("we") collects through GranthaSetu, why, and the choices you have. We process personal data in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 of India.

1. What we collect

• Account details you give us: name, e-mail address, password (kept only as a one-way hash, never readable), and if you choose, phone number, organisation and GSTIN.
• Your books: the pages you upload and the files made from them, and your settings and corrections for them.
• Payments: the amount, date and reference of each payment and charge. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by our payment partner and never reach us.
• Technical data: a session cookie that keeps you logged in and remembers your language, and basic server logs (time, IP address, page requested) kept for security.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.

2. Why we use it

• To provide the service you ask for: reading your books, making your files, keeping your wallet and invoices.
• To contact you about your account, your books and your payments.
• To meet our legal duties, such as tax and accounting records.
• To keep the service secure and to improve it (for example, adding single confirmed words and corrections to our vocabulary — never your book's text as a whole).

By creating an account you consent to this use. You may withdraw consent at any time by closing your account; this does not affect what was done before.

3. Who else handles it

Only service providers working for us, and only for the purposes above: our hosting provider; reputed cloud artificial-intelligence services that read the page images for us (they receive the page images and return text; they are bound not to use them for any other purpose); our payment partner; and our e-mail provider. Some of them may process data outside India, with safeguards required by law. We disclose data to authorities only when the law requires.

4. How long we keep it

• Your uploaded pages and finished files: 30 days after a book is finished, then deleted.
• Your account details: while your account is open.
• Payment records and invoices: for the period required by tax law (at least eight years).
• Backups are kept for a short period and then overwritten.

5. Your rights

You may ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, to correct or complete it, to erase it (except what the law requires us to keep), and to nominate a person to act for you. Write to our grievance officer; we reply within 30 days.

6. Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections; passwords are stored only as hashes; access to the server and to your books is limited to the people who need it to provide the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we will inform you and the authorities of a personal-data breach as the law requires.

7. Children

The service is not meant for children under 18 on their own. A child may use it only through a parent, guardian or institution.

8. Changes

We may update this policy; the date below shows the latest version, and an important change is shown to you when you next log in.
